Mohamed Refaat is one of El Warsha’s oldest participants. He has been one of the most consistent and most active people that is part and helps build our community. One of Refaat’s most valuable assists is his connection to his roots. In the past couple of years, his art mainly focuses on his culture and his heritage. This particular piece is of the Mohamed Ali mosque, one that is very special to him on an emotional level as he used to go there as a child with his grandfather. With such an important task that he decided to take on, it took him a year to finalize this piece even though he was continually working on it. This piece portrays so many ups and downs that Refaat personally has gone through creating this piece, and throughout the year that he was working on it.
