This exceptional piece made 9-year-old Khadija, is her very first piece. Khadija first starting coming to El Warsha with the beginning of her treatment plan when she was only five years old. Khadija comes from a family of artists, which is why El Warsha intrigued her so much. She is so passionate about art and comes in with a pool of ideas every time she walks in. There was a lot of preparation that went in before—beginning her first piece, like weeks of practicing with different drawings and materials. She ultimately chose to represent the freedom that she feels when she paints and creates through a depiction of a colorful bird. Working with young Khadija has taught us all the importance of the freedom of self-expression and passion at every age.
